Grant Application
Carter Brown Legacy Preservation Fund
Background
The mission of the Fund is to preserve and restore historic buildings and grounds within the Castle Park Reserve and to promote the conservation and protection of both the wildlife habitat and environmentally sensitive “back dunes” of the surrounding area.
The Carter P Brown Legacy Preservation Fund has been established and recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to accept charitable gifts, bequests from estates, wills, or planned giving as a way to ensure that the Castle Park Reserve sustains its historic and natural legacy for future generations of visitors, residents and their guests.
Process
We appreciate your interest in submitting a proposal to the Fund and we thank you for working with us through the proposal process. Please answer the questions in this Grant Proposal and submit it to the Fund for review at least thirty days prior to the proposed work being commenced. Our review of this grant request is not a commitment by the Fund, but is a necessary step to approving a grant for funding. Fund grants might not cover the total cost of the proposed project and might not be approved for work already completed. The Fund encourages a collaborative effort where the applicant is involved in the project development and responsible for the scope of work and successful completion.
Non-Confidentiality Agreement
The Fund is required by the IRS to publish a list of its grants. The Fund may also want to provide a general description of grants on its web site, in marketing materials and in press releases. All applicants are assumed to have agreed to this requirement.
Criteria for Funding
Projects requesting funding must meet the following criteria:
Be consistent with the Fund’s mission
Provide a long-term benefit to the public, including visitors and residents
Be in the nature of a capital improvement rather than an annual operating expense
